I run SimplyMepis Linux 3.3.1-1 on an Acer Aspire 3003 (Semperon 3000+, SIS video). You have to use ndiswrapper to run the windows wireless driver, but it works for me. You can install from the livecd.

Hi, neoind:

I saw in a shop an Acer 3002LMI notebook,
but didn't know what linux distribution could go well with it.
I wish to ask you:
is Acer 3002LMI the same as yours (Aspire 3002)?
Did you easily manage to install Debian onto that
notebook and to make Debian recognize the hardware?
I'm just passing from Mandrake 10.1 to Debian, so I'm a Debian absolute beginner:
would your direct experience suggest to buy that notebook to use Debian
with it?

Thanks indeed,
Rodolfo

I'm running a Acer Aspire 3002LMI

with Fedora Core 4 with the latest Kernell 2.6.15 (or something) and it runs well.

All I have to fix is the wireless card as stated above and the batterymonitor isn't working. Aside from that everything is allright. And I have allready found the solutions for the different problems.

Maybe tonight I'll have a fully functionall laptop with Linux.
I do recomend the Aspire 3002 but the battery is a piece of crap with a peak usage of 48 minutes or something. So you'll have to buy another one with 8 cells.
