Welcome to LQ

A good start would be
http://www.linux-on-laptops.com/
You can download a live CD from almost every distro.
Boot from the live CD and see if your hardware is supported.
Take a look at
http://distrowatch.com/
for download locations, or use
http://iso.linuxquestions.org/

Kind regards

I doubt there is a version just for that.

Try live cd's for general hardware compatibility tests.

Linux can use a nic in one of three ways. One is native support. You simply boot and it works. Then there is add on driver. You find out your nic and then get a driver and install it. Lastly is ndiswrapper to use a windows driver on linux.

You should get results by googling Fedora hardware compatibility list.
What specific problems are you having with drivers?

Great info
Don't forget it's almost time to either upgrade Ubuntu 11.10 or reinstall as of May 9 2013
