Boot a USB device through floppy in order to install LINUX

Hi, I have an old Toshiba tecra 8000 with P2 300Mhz, 256MB RAM external floppy and internal CD-ROM. I figured out that the internal CD-ROM is dead and that the system cannot boot from USB devices.

So my only chance to install linux on this thing is to connect an external HDD or DVD-ROM drive via usb. Then boot from a floppy disk that will allow me to start an installation from an external USB device.

Does anyone have any idea how this is possible?

Thanks in advance

PLoP Bootmanager should allow you to boot from floppy, then hand off to a usb device:

Yes-I use PLOP on my Toshiba 7000CT and it works good-did notice it works better sometimes if u reboot then try to boot the usb, etc.

It's included in my MultiDistro-Magic-LiveCD, but I'm finishing the USB version now.
