Black screen after resuming from sleep

I already posted a thread on the SuSE forum, but this might be a better location. I am running SuSE 9.2 on a Thinkpad r50p. I am trying to get the laptop to suspend and resume properly.

At this moment, the suspend part works fine but the resume does not restart the display (at least it seems since the screen seems off).

I increased the trace level and it seems that the resume if happening properly (network connection restored and so on), but the screen does not come back up.

Is there a module I need to reload, or should I restart x on resume? I could use some help trying to fix this issue. This is really the only thing that prevents me from using Linux on my laptop as my primary OS

thanks for the help

It appears that I only needed to pass the following to the kernel: acpi_sleep=s3_bios. Suspend/resume to RAM seems to work like a charm.
