Best Linux on Laptop and which LT.

Now iam totally confused.
As first i think of MAC now i find there is no diff between having MAC or having i86.

Please help me out which Laptop i would go for and Which OS ( Linux Distribution ) i should install to get the better result for work.

I am going to use LT for my office work and word processing and not more Graphical work.

I also going to do some programming work.

Please help me out the find one best LT.

The great thing about this questions is that there is no wrong answer. Although I have no owned a Mac myself, I have gotten a chance to take a good hard look at some of the Mac laptops that my colleges have and they are nice machines. The OSX operating system looks slick and it has a BDS like back end. If you decide that you have had enough of OSX you can run something along the lines of Yellow Dog Linux for a change of pace on these machines.

But there is something to be said for going with a Intel / AMD laptop. For one you have a lot more choices on hardware. Plus you will have a deeper selection of distros to choose from, if you should happen to be the fickle type.

For my next laptop it will be a tough call. At the moment I am leaning forwards getting a thin and light Sony or IBM, and running Fedora on it. My office uses mostly different flavors of RedHat, and Fedora's environment of course is very similar. Yet in the back of my head I have to admit that I am drawn to the Apple machines.

If nothing else, try to enjoy the time that you spend trying to make your choice.
