Asus L7300 freezes when using pcmcia nic

Hi im a newbie to linux and need help!

Ive setup Red Hat 7.2 (and various other versions of linus) on my old Asus l7300 laptop.

Everything works fine except for the fact that my laptop freezes frequently, but only when I access the internet.

I'm using a 3com Megahertz PCMCIA network card which works fine under Windows 98. The problem seems to occur when i use the card continuosly ie downloading a large file or browsing large sites. Is there anything that im not doing? all the settings are as setup during installation.

Any help would be gratefull as windows is soo slow on my machine unlike linux which seems to fly
