E: Some index files failed to download, they have been ignored, or old ones used instead.

## Actually there seems to be two problems, but the one that
## I'm trying to address right now is the GPG problem, hense:

inductance@ubuntu:~$ gpg --keyserver subkeys.pgp.net --recv-keys 521A9C7C
gpg: requesting key 521A9C7C from hkp server subkeys.pgp.net
gpg: key 521A9C7C: "Justin Hayes (Automatix Repository Master) <wildtangent@w1ldt4ng3nt.net>" not changed
gpg: Total number processed: 1
gpg: unchanged: 1

## So, if I already have the key, what's the problem?? I'm
## actually trying to install initng, made some mistakes
## earlier, but now I'm just trying to clean some stuff up.
## Can anyone help me out here? Thanks in advance

Looks like a bug. For now, use a different mirror, and file this report with Ubuntu.

Two more questions and I'll bother you no more. Do you recommend a specific mirror? And, how do I go about reporting this bug? I'm sorry, I'm a slight newbie.

Don't use Debian mirrors; use only Ubuntu mirrors. Debian package lists can be in .bz2 format (i.e. gzip wouldn't recognize it). It's not really a bug on your side; your apt-get doesn't seem to process .bz2 files. If you want experimental packages, use "edgy" instead of "dapper," and download the packages from http://archives.ubuntu.com.

You can report the bug at Ubuntu's website (www.ubuntu.com/support/bugs).

PS Feel free to "bother" us--we learn by helping others
