Anyone Installed Suse 9.x on Compaq Presario 2500??
Anyone who has installed Suse 9.x on a Compaq Presario 2500?
Please let us know how it went in terms of :
1. Driver recognition
2. Modem recognition.
3. could you connect to the internet using dial-up?
4. Battery Power Status?
5. TouchPad scroll-bar?
Please help, especially with Modem/SoftModem recognition and connecting to the Internet using Dial-up.
Maybe you could provide some hardware specifications. I successfully used SUSE 9.0/9.1/9.2 on a Presario 915EA, but I have not idea whether this is similar to your system.
In 9.0 I used the default hsflinmodem driver that came with the standard distribution. I think I remember that the driver became commercialised by linuxant, however I am not sure about this. I think the driver is still part of all SUSE versions. However I have not used the modem for a long time...
The graphics is different to my system, I have the older version (U1), which finally produces 3D acceleration under 9.2.
The touchpad was recognised and the scoll button is working in 9.2.
The powerstatus should be monitored by kpowersave. In older SUSE versions I used acpid in combination with cpufreqd and cpudynd, in >9.1 I use powersaved.

I hope some of the information is useful for you.
I have a dual boot xp and Suse 9.1.... Everythings fine just like abisko. Using kpowersave for power stat, detected etho no problem and is online with that. I haven't got the wlan working yet. Will use ndiswrapper and drivers from the Cd. Haven't even tested the modem and prob won't.
