Acer Travelmate 2200

i am currently paying off a Acer Travelmate 2200.
ie i don't get the actual till it's fully payed off.

I was wondering if anyone has used Linux on Acer Travelmate 2200 or knows someone who has.
if so which distros?

I'm planning on installing mandrake 10.1 on it and dual boot with windows.
and i also hope that Knoppix will run on it too. (used to run mandrake 10.1 on my toshiba portege 3480CT laptop which i no longer have.)

full laptop specs are here(sorry it's the best link i could find on it)
http://ostg.pricegrabber.com/search_...70#description

I'm from australia by the way.

Also does anyone know if their is any good books for newbies for Mandrake 10.1
i'm actually getting comfortable with it.
But would like to learn even more.

There won't be any problem to install linux on it. I have a TM630, an old laptop, installed Debian sid. I got all the hardware worked including the modem. So you may try. Good luck.

i only ask this because last laptop i had,was a toshiba portege 3480ct,600mhz,6gb hd,196mb ram,8mb vid card.
and it wouldn't run knoppix kept dropping the shell.
as well as it was annoying having to pluggin the cardbus cdrom.

i managed to get mandrake 10.1 and redhat 8.0 but all the live distros just dropped the shell.

since then i sold the laptop and am getting a new one.
so please if anyone has acer travelmate 2200, please let me know, how it is with linux distros.

ok cool hopefully it should be ok then

I used it

Hi,
i bought a Acer TM2200 almost 2 years ago and I tried some OS. I worked without any problems on Linux Mandrake 9.2 and 10.1. A couple days ago i tried Open Suse 10.0, it worked very good. Now I'm about to try how FedoraCore 5 works on it and I'm looking how to configure my WLan Card. I hope I'll be successful.
I'm from Poland, but I think there's no difference. The hardware is the same.

Ciao

Mines a TM 2413 and it works really with Suse, Fedora Core and Mandriva. I am sure yours will work fine as well.
