vm86plus service not available in your kernel

Hi, I installed Suse Linux 10.0 from CD and then dosemu/freedos from the CD. Right "out ofthe box". Presumably, the builds on the CD were tested with the Kernel.

When I try to type dosemu at the command line, I get the following error message: "vm86plus service not available in your kernel". Dosemu does not load. Any suggestions?

Note that I am a new user, just getting used to the command line, haven't compiled anything yet.

Thanks
Alan

Well, if nobody has a thought on this, perhaps I need to rephase it. Is anyone out there running SUSE Linux 10.0 "out of the box" using the copy of dosemu provided on the CD? I got my CD from SUSE Linux 10 Bible.

If there are others who are working it without trouble, I'm thinking maybe its my installation, my video card, my ???whatever.

Thanks.

This is an old post, but fyi to everyone out there: I'm having the exact same trouble and am also using the Suse 10.2 packages. I tried compiling it from scratch and still get the same problem.

Try downloading a newly compiled copy for Suse 10.2. I did and I no longer have any trouble with that. I'm having other troubles unrelated to it.

Dosemu works great -- but there are still issues with file and record locking unrelated to this post.

Good luck
Alan
