SPI doesnt work after kernel compilation on Raspberry Pi 2

I compiled the 4.4.19-v7+ kernel on my Pi and updated it (apt-get dist-upgrade), in order to make some kernel modules, and it worked .

However some WiringPi-SPI userspace programs that worked before do not, printing

Code:
Unable to open SPI device. No such file or directory.
upon execution. as well as new kernel modules that use the SPI, printing

Code:
could not insert module spitest.ko No such device
The dtparam=spi=on line is in /boot/config.text, however the /dev/spidev0.* files are not there anymore, as well as the /boot/overlays/spi-bcm****-overlay.dtb files. Also spi_bcm2835 is not blacklisted.

Any ideas? Thanks
