New registered PRNG not being used??

In a device driver I’m writing I registered a hardware PRNG via the crypto api.

It shows up under /proc/crypto but the .generate part is never being called. What am I missing? Do I have to tell the kernel somehow to start using this new PRNG or is it suppose to be used automatically?
