A follow-up question: What's the need for performing the ioremap at all?
DMA will use the physical address, and the user level process will use the mmaped address.

Sorry, a more basic question first - once such a memory range is reserved, is it also possible to perform DMA into this memory area? How does the driver obtain the DMA address to be used for this purpose?

It partly depends on the motherboard . . . some DMA has a limited range.
