insmod fail and see"version magic **should be**"

Hello,guys .
I'm new to linux and try to add modules to the kernel.
at fisrt time, I failed to insmod for
" version magic ' 2.6.12 PENTIUM4 gcc-3.4' should be '2.6.12-gentoo-r11 SMP PENTIUM4 gcc-3.4"
I recompile the kernel and try again
at this time, the system remind
" version magic '2.6.12 PENTIUM4 4KSTACKS gcc-3.4' should be ' 2.6.12-gentoo-r11 SMP PENTIUM4 gcc-3.4'
actually , when compile the kernel by using make menuconfig
I did choose the "use 4Kb for kernel stacks instead of 8kb" in kernel hacking screen , but I did not enable "Symmetirc multi-processsing support"
Then, how could the kennel report like that and how to solve such problems.
thank,u.

In the processor type and features section disable the SMP option . which may solve your problem.
