How does Device probe gets called?


Hi all,

Can someone explain,
How does platform devices are probed?
How does the kernel know presence of Platform devices?

It depends on the architecture and hardware. On x86 PC, some devices are reported by ACPI. Also, you can read something about PCI (or some other standard, such as USB) on Wikipedia first.
