How do i become a kernel developer???

Salaam,
Hey i am a c programmer(intermidiate skills).
I am very interested in the linux kernel and would love to work on it, I got to know that such people are known as kernel developers, can any1 help me and let me know how is one supposed to become a developer.

you find somethign worth developing related to teh kernel, and submit your code to the kernel mailing list (lkml) really... you can't just "have a go" though, you can't just ask for a project from Linux exactly... totally up to you to find somethign worth working on and explore it. most liekly you'd start with bug fixes and simple patches i guess. depends what your speciality is really.

In addition there are several books that describe the structure of the Linux kernel. I'd recommend Linux kernel Development (2nd Ed.) by Love and Understanding the Linux Kernel (3rd Ed.) by Bovet and Cesati as references. The only way to become proficient, however, is to dive in and start coding.
