help writing watchdog timer driver

Hi,

After successfuly learning how to crosscompile linux kernel and application for embedded devices I am learning device driver development and I want to write watchdog driver for my pandaboard running linux but I have no idea where to start. I have written linux kernel modules so I know how to write a basic character driver but I am not able to find any reference material for writing watchdog timer device driver for omap4. Please point me in the right direction and if possible give me links to concerned reference material.

Regards

Please post your thread once and in only one forum. Posting a single thread in the most relevant forum will make it easier for members to help you and will keep the discussion in one place. This thread should be closed because it is a duplicate of https://www.linuxquestions.org/quest...er-4175471811/.

The only reason I posted in both forums is because I don't know which will be the most relevant forum. Please advise me about selecting the relevant forum.

// Commonly when a moderator posts such a message she or he chooses the thread less likely to be in the right place to post in. Follow-ups should go to the other thread (or email) and as an encore: wheel re-invention-wise http://cateee.net/lkddb/web-lkddb/OMAP_WATCHDOG.html shows me there's already an "omap_wdt.c" WDT in linux/drivers/char/watchdog/ using the WDT Driver Core Framework supposed to support TI OMAP 4430.

As unSpawn said. In addition, if you're in doubt you may post your thread only in one forum, then REPORT your own thread (see the REPORT button in the lower right corner of your posts) so that you have a way to contact the administrators of the forum and ask them advice about the proper forum. They eventually will move your thread to a more suitable place. This one closed as a duplicate, now.
