Cannot find /lib/modules/2.6.23.1custom1

Since installing mdadm, my package manager has broke. I used dpkg -P to remove mdadm, and still, it is broke. I can not add or remove any other packages using apt. Here are some errors that I get.

Code:
chris@ubuntu:~/Desktop/pcsx2$ sudo apt-get install libglew1.4-dev
[sudo] password for chris:
E: dpkg was interrupted, you must manually run 'dpkg --configure -a' to correct the problem.
chris@ubuntu:~/Desktop/pcsx2$
chris@ubuntu:~/Desktop/mutt-1.4.2.3$ sudo apt-get --purge remove mutt
[sudo] password for chris:
Sorry, try again.

When you compiled your custom kernel (which is what it seems like you have done), did you make sure to do “make modules_install” after compilation?

No, I did not. That was not in the directions that I followed. I can't find the directions that I followed. The webpage is probably bookmarked at home, but I did find a guide with similar instructions.

http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/ubunt...ubuntu-kernel/

That guide also does not have any instructions for "make modules_install." Why is there more than one guide for compiling a kernel in Ubuntu that does not say anything about doing a "make modules_install"? Is there another command that is doing that for Ubuntu or some other reason?
