x fails to start

SuSE 10.1. I tried to install noatun yesterday and installation seemed to work. Later, after rebooting the system, after the usual splash screen it wouldn't boot to GUI but resulted in a blank screen. Booting in safe mode works, and SaX2 initially works after its text preamble but ends in a blank screen out of which I can't get other than rebooting. YaST works using the command line but selecting the monitor option results in a blank screen. Booting to Windows works as normal, as does booting to a live Knoppix disc. Help, please, anyone.

One reason may be the disk or linux partition is full. See if that is the case. Otherwise, you may boot from Knoppix and copy its xorg.conf to the OpenSuse system and reboot. Better luck.
