Which video card should I upgrade to?

I think it's time for a video card upgrade.

Right now my setup is a GTX 970. My display is 1080P 60 Hz (it's a TV), and I'm not intending to upgrade that. I run slackware-current, which always gives me the latest mesa, X, kernel and LLVM. My PSU is 500W. I'd like to keep my power consumption down (if possible) and also make sure the PSU and the GPU are a good match. I intend to play games like Dark Souls 3, Sekiro, Wolfenstein 2, etc in Proton. And, when it's out for Linux, Shadow of the Tomb Raider.

My case is big and boxy. Card size and airflow aren't concerns.

One option I'm considering is a non-super NVidia RTX 2060, which has exactly the same power requirements as my existing card.

But I've also noticed that the AMD RX 5700 only draws 20 watts more, even though it recommends a 600W PSU. So I'm also considering just upgrading the PSU and going for AMD, which would free me from having to manage the binary NVidia drivers.

What does the forum recommend?

Also let me know how much you think NVidia's superior real-time-raytracing support should be a factor in my decision

I've already decided:

I went for the non-super RTX 2060 because I figured that the generation that's goes out this week would have fewer manufacturing issues than the one that comes in this week.
