Which mouse protocol for Logitech M-S30 in X11 and GPM?

Hi there,
somehow my first attempt to post this failed and the
content went down the kitchen sink, it seems, so here's
my problem again.

I would like to get a Logitech M-S30 3-button mouse working
in Slackware 12.1 with X11 and GPM, but forgot the correct
mouse protocol for this device. I've really backed up just
about everything, but forgot to make a copy of
/etc/X11/xorg.conf. Not a big problem, as everything else
is working just fine, again, except the mouse.

Of course, I have searched the web and experimented quite
a bit with various mouse drivers, but had no success.
Therefore I hope someone of you knows the correct settings
for this device and can post them here.

Thanks everybody!

gargamel

I'm pretty sure the "evdev" driver should work fine. I have a Logitech MX Revolution (12-button), and it's working fine in fedora.

Thanks for this superfast reply, jcviz.
evdev seems to be not available in stock Slackware, but I found that my problem is not to select the correct driver, but just to get it loaded at boot time.

A simple
Code:
# /sbin/modprobe psmouse
does the job. The only question is, why this command seems not to be executed at boot time, although it is not commented out in /etc/rc.d/rc.modules. (I know, in Fedora the place to look for this is different, as it is more System V, while Slackware is a little more BSDish in certain aspects).

Thanks anyway,

gargamel
