Wheel mouse through OmniView KVM?

Hey there,

Linux newbie here, just installed RH8.0, and having problems getting my scroll wheel mouse (Logitech) to work. All functions but the actual scroll wheel work.

Here's the catch - the mouse is hooked to the PC (PS/2) thru a Belkin-brand OmniView KVM switch (an older model, at that). To test, I installed RH8.0 at work w/a scroll mouse directly attached to the PS/2 port - and the generic "Wheel Mouse" driver was scrollin' like a champ.

Is anyone aware of an issue with getting the scroll wheel to work thru a KVM switch? If so, is there some kind of workaround? A Google search hits a thread mentioning something about passing the mouse through GPM to X... but I have absolutey no idea what that means.

Many thanks in advance!!

Arrow Belkin KVM

yeah i have a Belkin OmniView 4 port, and im having similar problems, except when i do the above and enable ZAxisMapping in the /etc/X11/XF86config-4 file of my RedHat 7.3, box.....and then switch around to my windoes2000 computer, and come back to RH, eveything is all strange, IE: when i move the mouse it clicks buttons, i have to switch ttys and comment out the ZAxisMapping, if i reboot X with the option, it works fine until i switch with the KVM, help.....
also its a Logitech MX500 mouse, ive been reading forms, and hearing about this xmodmap and imwheel? anyone tell me somthin about this? thanks a lot
