I've been hearing rumors that ps/2 mice are faster in terms of latency, is this true ?
what are the differences between the interfaces ?
do we really need the extra bandwidth USB has to offer for mice ?
is it worth sacrificing latency for bandwidth ?
I have found that at least to me, there is no difference. In fact, when the 2.6 kernels came out there was an issue with the USB support so I put the PS/2 connection adapter on my mouse and have not changed it since. Also, my incoming KVM switch only has ps/2 connections. People I have talked to can not notice a difference.
depends what you use the mouse for, obviously it's not the difference between wireless mice but if you use it for games - you might notice it, however that does not necessarilly answer the question, at least not completely, are you confirming that there is a difference ?
technically, i have no idea. But to the naked eye it does appear that way. I have heard from some gamers that the optical mouse is more accurate, but nothing about the difference in speed.
