USB to Ethernet adapters

Hi,

I have built a Debian embedded system which I need to support some USB to Ethernet adapters for.

I have bought a lot of brands online to find that only one of them worked with the stock Debian Etch kernel. I am not interested in recompiling kernels etc.

So I was wondering if people could suggest some adapters which you know work with the stock Debian etch kernel? The only one which worked for me is based on a ASIX 88172 chipset and therefore loads the ASIX 8817X module.

Do you know of any other 8817X devices (perticulary ones available in the UK)? Or do you know any other devices which work with the stock kernel?

Thanks in advance!

Fredrik

The first result for "usb ethernet linux" on G00gle:
Linux USB Device Driver Support > Network Adapters

and on that page, another link:
Linux-USB Device Overview > Devices > Networking (list with 287 entries)

Wasn't that hard?!

Thanks, I saw those lists and other similar ones. However I found that most are either not available in the UK, or the ones I tried (like the D-link) did not work (they seem to change the chipset quiet often).

On the other list with 287 entries I have tried going back as far as 2006 on that list (anything older then that is not sold any more), but then there are only a few ones (most on that list is WLAN ones or bluetooth). The only ones that do match my criterias are once again unfortunatly not available in the UK. The site is quiet helpful though as you can search for devices with the specific chipset you are after, but that only returns 4 results. Only one of them are available in the UK which is the Linksys USB200M. I am keeping that one as a last resort though as it does not really have the shape I need (it is a dongle and space is very limited so I am not sure it can even be plugged into the USB ports on this embedded device as it is very crampt).

Thanks for your reply!
