Exclamation USB or nForce problems?!?! PLEASE HELP!!

Hi all.
After reading ALL LETTERS that I saw (in a lot of places) abou the USB problems with Red Hat, I didnt found the right answer for me. So I ask now you help (PLEASE!).

First of all, my sistem:
- SO: Red Hat Linux 9.0
- Motherboard: ASUS A7N8X-Deluxe
- Processor: AMD ATLHON XP 2400+
(well, this is what matters).
and
- USB microsoft intellimouse (here is the problem!!)

Now, before you try to guess what is wrong, I can tell you that I tried all that things like:
- Turn off "Assign IRQ for USB"
- Enable "Support legacy USB devices" as secundary
- etc... in the BIOS

By looking at /proc/interrupts this is what a had (just the USB line, of course):
CPU0
12: 0 XT-PIC usb-chci, chci1394

(I'm a newbi, but someone sayd its ok [is it?]).

I start now to think that this is a CHIPSET problem (nForce2).
Not just the USB doesn't work but the audio (on-board) too!!
The most interesting is to see that all that I have here I put in a ASUS A7V8X motherboard (VIA CHIPSET) and EVERITHING worked just fine!! USB, audio, hard drives...

So, anyone have a idea of what this problem could be??
I apreciate very much any sugestions!

I'm having the exact same problem and I have an ASUS A7N266-VM motherboard with the nforce2 chipset. I cannot plug ANY usb devices in. If I do, the OS will not boot. It freezes when saying "Finding Module Dependancies". If I plug in a USB device after boot, the machine locks (freezes) up.

I'm using the stock Redhat Kernel 2.4.20-8, I'm thinking about upgrading it to see if the problem changes.
