Sometimes it works, other times it doesn't (the cursor doesn't move). I don't know why. Don't know what do to to fix this as I'm new to Linux. I know it's not a problem of the mouse because I changed port and I also tried another mouse and there is the same problem. Does anyone know how to fix this?
My kernel version is 3.16.0-4-amd64.
The 'dmesg' output shows, among others (couldn't post the whole output because it's too long) the following messages (frankly I don't understand what they mean):

I don't know if the dmesg extract is relevant with the problem. It seems that your chipset isn't fully managed by the kernel... Perhaps that you should make different tries with live distributions.
Welcome to LQ. Good troubleshooting efforts, but you'll find more things to dig into
By web-searching the title (without distro; seems to happen to others).
Best wishes. Let us know what you find!!! p.s. Here's one: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingMou..._after_a_while
Very wild-guess: is psmouse module needed / causing conflict? lsmod/rmmod
Did you try the diff suggested in that link? (Esp xorg but Idk x11)
No psmouse which is probably good.
Try a: lsusb (more clues for lqGurus to look at)
Oh, note 5 "Similar Threads" at bottom of page (for more www-digging)
tell us something about the hardware - bot the mouse and the rest of the machine.
how old/new is it, how non-standard etc.
any reason you're still using jessie?

Yes I tried the method suggested by the link you posted, and then the mouse began to work for a few days but today the cursor stopped moving again.
Output of lsusb :

also the outptu of this:
Code:
lspci -k
can't hurt.
I use two usb mouses, one is a Logitech (can't recall the model) the other one is a Microsoft Wireless Mobile Mouse 4000.
I'm using Jessie because it is the recommended standard OS by a series of books I started reading before the release of Wheezy.
Output of 'lspci -k' :
