USB media reader


Guys I just baught a biostar media card reader , its internal sits in the floppy slot and connects to the internal usb connectors ,my problem is that with suse9.1 it wont boot up at all if its plugged in it will fail at usb detection and linspire the same mandrake will see it as a usb device but it wont let me configure it has anyone had any experience with this ?
