USB Extigy Soundcard help

Hi,
First off I just want to say that im a bit of noob when it comes to linux. I've always wanted to learn it but seem to get to frustrated early on. But im off to give it a go again and am not gonna give up.

Anyhow I have my redhat 9 system up and running fine except i cannot get my USB Creative Extigy Sound card to work. If i look under my hardware browser in gnome it notices both my nvidia usb controller and my creative labs soundcard. I've been trying to do a little research but alot of the stuff im finding isnt really a walkthru. It just says get the alsa drivers make them a module and edit your modules.conf file and it should work. Could anyone here maybe give me a link with a semi step by step process or just better help in general.

Thanks
