From my experience, there is no way to tell when a flash drive will fail. You may have better luck than I.

SSD's are being used in enterprise so that tells us a lot of quality.

While it's true that you can't predict a failure, you can use statistics to get a sense of when you're running on borrowed time at least. As far as SSD's in Enterprises - those drives are WAY more expensive than the consumer grade stuff because they are typically SLC (single layer) which are much faster and much higher P/E cycle ratings. The consumer grade stuff is MLC (double layer) which is cheaper to make but is slower, runs hotter, and has much lower P/E cycle ratings.

I think I read that WD or someone is shutting down their mechanical units. Samsung is reporting a new 4TB QLC SSDs that will of course exceed the current stuff. They will have consumer and pro consumer for that soon.
