Having trouble installing a piece of hardware? Want to know if that peripheral is compatible with Linux?

USB console

Hi,

I wonder if it is posible to have system console on USB. In other words, if there is any limitation to have a terminal in USB, attaching getty to some device similiar to /dev/ttyS01 but pointing to USB client/host.

Of course, I'm talking about having console WITHOUT a USB to RS232 dongle

Thanks in advance
Ricardo

Be an interesting experiment, at the least. Would love to hear your results. I am confident it will work with a USB-Serial converter, but unsure about straight USB-USB. You'd have to get the right drivers loaded, and it would have to emulate a terminal device. Theoretically, if you write the code to do it, it should work.
