I'm going to be upgrading this weekend from an AMD dual-core 3800 ASUS A32 deluxe to an Intel conroe e6600 and a Gigabyte GA-965P-DS3 (Intel P965).
I'm currently running Slackware 11 with kernel 2.6.20
I've read through a bunch of posts that say that in order for Linux in general to work on the P965 I need to be on 2.6.20 however coming from the AMD side to Intel I am unsure what kernel modules I need to compile in order to work.
Since I have a working system right now I figured I could get a updated kernel, configure what is needed on the working system then put the new PC together and all should be glorious!
Hopefully some kind soul can tell me what I need to enable in the kernel for SMP (I assume the "usual"), SATA capabilities and chipset options.
Yeah all I need are just what kernel options I need to turn on when I compile since this is an existing install. I'm just going from an AMD arch to Intel Core 2 Duo.
So in theory I should be able to just enable the right kernel options, compile then be good to go .. I just have no clue what options are needed coming from the AMD side of things
