Unhappy Ultra ULT31502 And Linux

I just invested in a UPS, for my workstation system, and according to the manual it should be compatable with linux, but I have not gotten anywhere as far as getting it to work with linux.. how are various outputs of different programs..

Code:
jaguar ~ # lsusb -t
Bus# 5
`-Dev# 1 Vendor 0x0000 Product 0x0000
Bus# 4
`-Dev# 1 Vendor 0x0000 Product 0x0000
  `-Dev# 3 Vendor 0x0d9f Product 0x0001
Bus# 3
`-Dev# 1 Vendor 0x0000 Product 0x0000
Bus# 2
`-Dev# 1 Vendor 0x0000 Product 0x0000
Bus# 1
`-Dev# 1 Vendor 0x0000 Product 0x0000
jaguar ~ # upsdrvctl start
Network UPS Tools - UPS driver controller 2.0.0
Network UPS Tools: HID UPS driver 0.13 (2.0.0)

Warning: This is an experimental driver.
Some features may not function correctly.

/dev/usb/hiddev0 is not a UPS

Driver failed to start (exit status=1)
jaguar ~ # upsdrvctl start
Network UPS Tools - UPS driver controller 2.0.0
Network UPS Tools: New HID UPS driver 0.11 (2.0.0)

Warning: This is an experimental driver.
Some features may not function correctly.

No USB/HID UPS found
Driver failed to start (exit status=1)
jaguar ~ # upsdrvctl start
Network UPS Tools - UPS driver controller 2.0.0
Network UPS Tools - PowerCom and similars protocol UPS driver $ Revision: 0.5 $ (2.0.0)

tcgetattr(/dev/usb/hiddev0): Invalid argument
Driver failed to start (exit status=1)
jaguar ~ #

I also appear to get a lot of these in dmesg:
usb 4-2: usbfs: USBDEVFS_CONTROL failed cmd lsusb rqt 128 rq 6 len 256 ret -110
The default software appears to have been made for serial input; I tried using usbserial, but that didn't work at all.. Any help with this would be much appreciated. -- If you need anymore information just ask.

Okay so I'm guessing that your UPS connects to the computer via a USB connector that emulates a serial port. You could use the lsusb -v command as root to see if your computer hardware detects this device.

Another helpful utility to display hardware that is detected by Linux is hwinfo. I recommend directing the output to a file and then using less to read it. This utility displays a huge amount of detail about your hardware as seen from Linux.

hwinfo > hwinfo.txt
less hwinfo.txt

as for hwinfo, it appears to be masked, and probably because I'm running an Athlon 64. Anyway, I'm not exactly sure what do with this information.
