ubuntu 7.10 sound blaster live line-in very quiet

I am using Ubunutu 7.10 and I have a Sound Blaster Live card,

I am using the machine for recording audio, and whilst it does record, it records VERY quietly, even with all the levels in the sound mixer set to maximum.

Can anyone help, is there somewhere I can force it to go higher?

Try running the comand alsa-mixer. You will see a eq like mixer and should be able to configure the input from there.
