Trouble with mounted drive.

I have a vfat drive that I use to share files between linux and windows, and for some reason I cant write to it unless Im root. I want normal users to be able to write to it also. I have it listed in fstab as this:
Code:
/dev/hde1 /mnt/hde1 vfat rw,suid,dev,exec,auto,users,async 1 1
Anyone know what the problem might be. When I first set it up, I had it set as "defaults" instead of "rw,suid, etc...", but it wouldnt let users unmount it or write to it. Then I set it to just "users" and it wouldnt let users write....

Please help?

Have you searched the site yet? This is a frequently asked question.

Add option umask=000

BTW the numbers at the end of the line are for dump and fsck. Change them to 0 0 for FAT32.

See man pages fstab and mount for further info.

Thanks, the umask option seems to have worked. Sorry if many people have asked this before. I looked through the hardware forum a bit but it didnt seem like there was anything similar. Thanks again.
