Trouble connecting serial touchscreen driver
Distribution: Ubuntu 7.10
Linux Version: 2.6.22
Touchscreen device: Level3?? Don't really know.
Serial port: /dev/ttyS2
I have no spec on the device I am using, but using "cat /dev/ttyS2" I have been able
to figure out the basic output of the device enough to modify one of the existing
drivers in drivers/input/touchscreen to generate input events. I can load the driver
as a kernel module and it appears to register with an entry showing up in /sys.
I just don't see how I am supposed to get the kernel to invoke the "connect routine" that
connects the driver to a specific serial port. Nothing in the other serial touchscreen
drivers really points to a way to get this connection. I've read a bit of the udev documentation and
it appears to be mainly a way to create symlinks so that you have consistent naming of
devices along with the ability to automatically create /dev entries. Since the driver doesn't
need to know the /dev/ name I don't see how this would be of interest.
Thanks
