To Go Glossy, or Satin?

I'm considering purchasing a laptop. As we know, laptop displays come in glossy, and satin (anti-glare). In the stores, I see these glossy displays, and it just looks like glare would ravage them. I would like to know your input.

I'd say go for the satin. If the glossy screens are anything like my monitor the reflection will make it impossible to see anything if you're looking at something dark.

I think it's stupid that they make the screens glossy. My old laptop here has a regular, I suppose satin anti-glare screen, but some of the people at my college I noticed had glossy screens. I had a chance to work with one of them, and indeed the glare is more pronounced on there. Try it out yourself if you can.

Well, your posts rather solidify my thoughts that glossy would be a bad way to go. I think I'll try to stick with the satins.

Thanks for your input, guys!
