tew-424ub on ubuntu 64 using ndiswrapper

On the following link i found
http://ndiswrapper.sourceforge.net/j...3/id,list_o-z/

#Card: Trendnet TEW-424UB
* Chipset: Realtek RTL8187B
* usbid: (as reported by lsusb ) 0bda:8189
* Driver: http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/...Downloads=true used winXP driver contained in RTL8187B_logo_6.1074.0406_silent_install.zip
* Other: Works with WEP, have not tried other encryptions, using ndiswrapper from kernel 2.6.20 (Ubuntu)
#

Has anyone gotten this usb wifi device working correctly on ubuntu 64?

When i use ndiswrapper to install the driver specified above ... nothing happens. I dont know the equivalent command line commands to run to see if any errors post. I was using the gtk gui.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Kirb

a 64-bit version also needs a windows-driver for 64-bit windows.
did you choose the correct windows-driver-version?

you could also try

using the add/remove packages gui (synaptic) for gnome... i installed ndiswrapper... i then using that gtk gui for ndiswrapper ... i install the x64 drivers for 8187b.

Everything seemed to have worked fine. it said Hardware Present: Yes.

i go to configure network and there is no wireless connection to pick from.

and when i type iwconfig i get "no wireless extensions"

i dont think it worked.

any suggestions?

thank you very much

ok, do this:
open a terminal and type
Code:
ndiswrapper -l
and post the output here.

you could also try this:
(in a terminal)
Code:
su -c "modprobe ndiswrapper"
then type
Code:
iwconfig
again and post the output of both the commands here again.

hi,

this looks quite good so far, now try this:

Code:
sudo ndiswrapper -ma
sudo ndiswrapper -mi
next, add "ndiswrapper" to /etc/modules

reboot, type
Code:
lsmod
and look for "ndiswrapper" in the list appearing.

if you find "ndiswrapper" there, try
Code:
iwconfig
ifconfig -a
and see, whether the device is listed there now.
