Suse 9, hotplug, USB and Canon 300D

I'm trying to connect my digital camera to my Suse 9.0 machine.
The camera is a Canon 300D (firmware 1.1.1, normal mode)
The hotplug process goes at least halfway. My camera is detected and I see it with lsusb
Problem is when I'm trying to access it through gphoto2. There seem to be some trouble with the usb driver used by gphoto2 (v. 2.1.4.). A piece of the debug info is shown below.
Code:
0.033677 gphoto2-port-core(2): Loaded 'Serial Port 22' (serial:/dev/ttyS22) from 'libgphoto2_port_serial.so'
0.033695 gphoto2-port-core(2): Loaded 'Serial Port 23' (serial:/dev/ttyS23) from 'libgphoto2_port_serial.so'
0.033712 gphoto2-port-core(2): Loaded '' (^serial) from 'libgphoto2_port_serial.so'
0.034236 gphoto2-port-core(2): '/usr/lib/gphoto2_port/0.5.1/libgphoto2_port_usb.so' is not a library (libresmgr.so.0.1: cannot open shared object file: No such
 file or directory)
At first I thought it was the ld.so.config that had to be altered but that didn't help. (Yes I did run ldconfig after)

Other than editing /etc/ld.so.config I have added the apropriate lines in /etc/hotplug/usb/

Notices
I had to update libresmgr. I did so but ran rpm with --nodeps to make it install.
libgphoto2-2.1.4

Problem solved (most of it at least).
Upgraded to gphoto 2.1.5 which seemed to solve the library problem.
Only problem still is that I can't make remote captures.
Camera fires of, but the picture can't be read on the USB, but stays on the flash card (readable by downloading later).
