Suse 10.3 doen not boot with USB Harddisk attached

Hi everyone,

I have a Iomega 1 TB harddisk (ext3) in use on my Suse 10.3 box.

When I detach it from the system, the computer boots as always, but when I leave it attached, the pc just hangs and does not boot.

The old 500GB Maxtor did not pose problems and was always attached on the same usb port.

Any sugestions ?

Please advise.

Hi,
How far into the boot process are you getting? Is it a Kernel error or a bootloader error. It probably has something to do with how either the bootloader or the kernel orders the internal and external disks.
Is the external drive configured as a boot device in BIOS and is it above or below your internal harddrive?
