Startech Firewire card?

I am about to buy a new firewire card. My budget only allows <= $25 to be spent, and I found a card that fits this: StarTech.com's PCI1394_2 card. Has anyone ever tried this card? I looked in the HCL, but it isn't listed. Their site never says that the card is linux compatible.
If anyone has been successful, could you please tell me what driver you used, or any kernel options that you selected when configuring?

Thanks,
Edward S. Rice

There aren't too many firewire chipsets and the unsupported ones are usually in Sony kit, and onboard and such, if they claim Linux compatible, I would take the chance, not too many manufacturers are going to lie about that. The Firewire section of 2.6 is under device drivers, there are only a few chipsets in there plus the 1394raw and ieee1394 and sb2 and some other odds and ends to connect to weirder devices. As usual everything gets emulated to scsi, so as you load modules check "dmesg" for a scsi device scan.

Cheers,
