Having trouble installing a piece of hardware? Want to know if that peripheral is compatible with Linux?

ssd drives tutorial

I'm thinking of getting a ssd drive. I usually run Slackware and CentOS.

I've been googling it and the information as to setting it up on linux are in various places.

1. Is there any page with complete set of instructions (nothing outdated) of what to do if you want to install a system on a ssd drive?

2. I've read somewhere that for optimal performance I can't use more than 80% of the drive so in case of a 60GB drive, I'd have to stay below 48GB

3. If later on I want to install another system, can I freely resize partitions on SSD?

http://askubuntu.com/questions/19376...buntu-on-a-ssd

try the above link, as it answers a lot of questions regarding SSD.

Please understand that SSD are primary used in servers and other commercial app.
For a home use PC, it's use may not be that critical.

Seeing as it is treated as a "HD" when in use, I cannot see why it wouldn't partition like a "HD".

Hope this helps.

To be honest, for a home use PC a lot of things are not critical. Still we use them

I understand it. I'm asking if there are any (additional) things to take into consideration when resizing SSDs?
