SSD connection on motherboard - what to connect there?

Hi all!

What kind of connection is that SSD Port? There is a recess in my laptop case for that but I can't find the form factor. The recess is nearly half of a standard ssd hd.

How many pins? If it's 22, it could be mSATA. see:

Thanks.
You are right. Maybe I made a mistake looking right. I will look again tomorrow.

O.K.
The connection has 29 pins on the left, and 4 pins on the right. In between there is a separator.
And at least I want to use one of the screws inside the recess.
But I can't find something like that.

This is M.2 connector.

Edit: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/M.2#Features

The last photo shows an M.2 connector. The first 3 of different boards did not show the angle to see the connections nor did it have the extra area that shows the screw sockets to hold it in place.

However, you need to check your manual for that laptop and see if that is for an M.2 SSD or an M.2 NVME device. They are different both in size and data speeds, and some manufacturers use specific devices that are custom made for them. Also, according to the wiki data there are different connectors and card widths so check before investing.

Many thanks for all the replies! That was very helpful.

I found a site with a parts list for my model (Asus X756UX series). All SSD's there have the form factor M.2 2280 SATA III 6Gb/s. So I took the risk and bought this one.
I think I can use at least one screw at the rear end. One thing that amazes me is that all those pieces have 5 pins on the right and my connector has only 4.

@ computersavvy: The problem was that the manual says nothing about any hw specs. It seems that they don't want you to open it.
I was told that opening or installing linux will void the guarantee. What a nonsense.

I will report.

Seemed odd to me that there wasn't an obvious way to fix the ssd to keep it in place.

You can also use shorter ones. M2 22 80 means it is 22mm wide and 80mm long and m-key means it uses PCIe. The other screw is for another length (perhaps 30mm -> 2230).
