Having trouble installing a piece of hardware? Want to know if that peripheral is compatible with Linux?

Sound problems in RH 8 on Metis 266

This is one of the errors I get when starting the computer:

Jul 13 12:17:23 localhost insmod: /lib/modules/2.4.18-14/kernel/drivers/sound/via82cxxx_audio.o: init_module: No such device
Jul 13 12:17:23 localhost insmod: Hint: insmod errors can be caused by incorrect module parameters, including invalid IO or IRQ parameters. You may find more information in syslog or the output from dmesg
Jul 13 12:17:23 localhost insmod: /lib/modules/2.4.18-14/kernel/drivers/sound/via82cxxx_audio.o: insmod sound-slot-0 failed

This is a MSI Metis 266 with onboard everything. Tried putting RH 9 on but video driver was too specific and wasn't compatible with the board, so used 8 instead. I'm going to try adjusting bios settings to fix this, does anybody have any other ideas?
