Sound Card problems with SuSE 9.0

Yet another question!

I promise I did click the "Has this been asked?" button several time. I really want to be able to fix my own problems, but at this point I don't think I can.

I can not get my sound card to work. I've tried several times to configure it, but it locks the system up every time.

I believe that I have sometype of Crystal Audio piece of ....

Here are some of the things I was able to discover when I searched the message board...

All of which means very little or nothing to me.

I obtained SuSE 9.0 via an FTP install, so the only books I have are from my SuSE 7.3 Professional and SuSE 8.0 Professional versions.

I'm a dummy!

Thanks for whatever help you can give.

Cheers,

KevBec (aka. NCAussie)

Could it be?

My PC locked and locked when trying to get sound on Suse 9.0 going , I even had to bypass the config during the install just to get the OS on my system. After the system was up I tried to configure as well (locked) .. Early this week I updated the kernel to the latest one via on-line update and the problem went away along with some other problems (USB keyboard and mouse problems).. I have Suse Pro though , I don't know if the download version is on the same kernel or not but I would guess it would be. Is your kernel up-to-date? Make sure it is before you spend to much time..

I don't know exactly...

I have You (Yast Online Update?) turned on, and I check for updates every time I log on.

I believe that the FTP install is Pro, but there again I could be wrong.

I will try when I get home and see if your suggestions helps.
