Sound Blaster Audigy Value for recording

Hi there,

I was about to buy the 'Sound Blaster Audigy Value' because it is the only sound card that I can get quite fast and cheap. However, checking the alsa wiki it says that there is still a bit of developing for the input necessary. Now, last modifications on this wiki have been made September last year and I would like to know the status for this sound card is still valid. I run debian testing.

I would appreciate it if someone could give me some feedback.

Thank you,
Ralf

Can't tell you, but what for what purpose do you want to record?

Last year I purchased a number of the cheapest no-brand and Diamond sound cards (tigerdirect.com) for use in Linux machines. Since they were about the lowest grade of sound cards available and since ages on the market they are perfectly Linux compatible. I have put 4 sound cards in 1 machine, bit that wasn't even necessary as each card supports 2 inputs and 2 outputs, sterao, simultaneaously!

The cards were so cheap ($9.95 - $19.95) that I could purchase several of each to test, however they all worked.

This is not studio quality of course, but for day-to-day recording, quality is good enough.
