Lightbulb SMP machines - locking a processor to one CPU?

Hello,

I want to know if it is possible to lock a process to one processor ? All of my rack mount servers are dual processor machines. On of the dev boxes has two seperate high demanding processes running on it.

They are java processes so they are mutilpe thread processes, I want to know if I can start process A and have it only use CPU 0 and the start process B and have it only use CPU 1.

Is this possible ???

Thanks for your replies..

Ingo Molnar and Robert Love released SMP process affinity patches.
IIRC RML's one is more recent, see http://www.tech9.net/rml/schedutils/

Thank you for your reply - I will test this out tomorrow

On another note - I just read that on a SMP machine you should disable hyber-threading --- any thoughts anyone ???
