Slackware - Unable to detect DVD Drive (in which installed the os)
This is a rather odd question, but I had installed Slackware 10.2 over the weekend and it installed fine. The somewhat funny and ironic thing is that I used my DVD Rom drive to install it, but it seems that Slackware cannot detect it. It detects my CD Burner, but not my DVD Rom Drive. Any help would be appreciated.
What does your /etc/fstab file say? Is there a /dev/dvd folder? How are you trying to access your DVD drive? Please post any errors you get when trying to access it. I'm guessing it is an fstab or udev problem.

well i use slacware too. i did make an entry to the etc/fstab , An icon did appear on the desktop. But the dvd rom does not work. One of my buddies told me that there is something to do with the "xine" engine. Well i'm clueless......
hep3005, what happens when you try to access a DVD? Do you get an error or does it just do nothing? Also, have you tried reading a regular data CD in the DVD drive? Is it the drive that isn't working or just DVD movies? Sorry for the barrage of questions, but the more information you give, the easier it is to give help.

Dvd Rom
well i tried to run a cd on my dvd rom but it did not work. This looked like as if the dvd rom does not exist on slackware. I'd really like to have my dvd rom working!. Does this have to do with any modules or any lib missing in the distro??
