Slackware 9.1 fails to see LG DVD-ROM
Greetings, all. I'm from the Redhat/Mandrake lineage of distros and recently installed Slackware 9.1 on a spare HDD. The install went well (I rather liked the simplicity of text-based installation) but Slack failed to configure my LG DVD-ROM. Oddly enough, the drive is listed as hdd on bootup. Perhaps more oddly, I installed Slack from a LinuxFormat DVD using the same drive. I've tried creating the directory "mkdir /mnt/dvd" then editing fstab to include the new dvd directory, but to no avail. When entering "mount /mnt/dvd" in a shell, my comp mounts the CD drive instead. Any suggestions?
TIA
