Serial port problems (Fedore core 1)

Hi,

I am not very sure whether this is a hardware or a software problem but my serial port doesn't seem to be working....

i have connected it to a meter and am trying to poll the meter....

this was working a couple of days back and i have no idea why it is not working now.....i will be really grateful if someone can tell me what i shud look into...it is connected to Com2 i.e. ttyS1

this is the output of "dmesg | grep ttyS"

Quote:
ttyS0 at 0x03f8 (irq = 4) is a 16550A
ttyS1 at 0x02f8 (irq = 3) is a 16550A
here r the output of some other commands.....the serial ports don't show up in /proc/interrupts.....

Code:
[root@localhost root]# cat /proc/interrupts
           CPU0
  0: 2150953 XT-PIC timer
  1: 5 XT-PIC keyboard
  2: 0 XT-PIC cascade
  8: 1 XT-PIC rtc
 10: 51132 XT-PIC usb-uhci
 11: 24998 XT-PIC ymfpci
 14: 42717 XT-PIC ide0
 15: 1 XT-PIC ide1
NMI: 0
ERR: 0

[root@localhost root]# cat /proc/ioports
0000-001f : dma1
0020-003f : pic1
0040-005f : timer
0060-006f : keyboard
0070-007f : rtc
i was able to poll the meter last week but now i am unable to do so .....pls advice....
