serial port

Hello,

The serial port can be configured to different baud rate, parity and flow, but how can I config a serial port to different protocol such as RS485 instead of RS232?

Thank you.

The short answer is you can't. RS485 is a hardware not a protocol specification. If you need RS485 you can purchase a RS232 to RS485 converter or a PCI RS485 card. The software configuration is basically the same.

Google for more info. I assume this wasn't homework or a school project
